Ashley Green
Assistant Director

 

 

Ashley started dancing when he was three years old in his parents dance school. He has studied many forms of dance including Jazz, Ballet, Latin, Ballroom, Street and Salsa dance. He competed and became the three times World, European, British and UK Freestyle Champion. He is also a winner of the prestigious Dancer of the Year Award. He then studied Ballroom Adagio with John Delroy and became the three times United Kingdom Showdance Champion, United States Theatre Arts Champion and was ranked No.1 in the World with the IDO (International Dance Organization). After retiring from competing, Ashley became a founder member of London Theatre of Ballroom as their principal adagio dancer and enjoyed a six month run at the newly re-opened Café de Paris in London’s west end. Whilst dancing with London theatre of Ballroom, Ashley was awarded a scholarship to Drama School and studying for three years. His theatre credits include two plays for the physical theatre company Theatre Lab. 'Urban Stories' and 'XXX Anonymous', the Pleasance London, the Riverside Studios, Everyman Theatre, Dublin and a National tour. His dancing has played a major part in this theatrical career as also toured nationally with the highly successful play ‘Ballroom’, Directed by John Retallack and he has performed in six productions at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden: '1984', 'The Tempest', 'Mitridate Re Di Ponto', 'La Traviatia', 'La Fille de Regiment' and 'Don Carlo'.

He has also danced in several major movies and TV programmes including 'Entrapment', 'The Other Boleyn Girl', 'Vanity Fair', The Tichborne Claimant', 'My Family', 'The Way We Live Now' and he tangoed with Brittany Murphy in the film ‘Love and Other Disasters’. Ashley choreographed the film 'Churchill the Hollywood Years' with Christian Slater and Neve Campbell and most recently he was featured in the documentary ‘Seriously Dirty Dancing’ for channel 5 which celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the film. On the show, he taught the presenter, Dawn Porter, how to Meringue and Mambo. They re-created the ‘last night at Kellermans’ and performed ‘The Time of my Life’ as Jonny Castle with Dawn Porter as Baby! Ashley has been teaching dance to all grades and ages for the last 15 years. He is a Licentiate with the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing, fully qualified in Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle, Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa and Argentine Tango.

Ashley has run ballroom, salsa and jazz classes all over London for all age groups and abilities; He is the Assistant Director of the London Theatre of Ballroom and runs their 'Dance in Schools' and ‘Wedding Dance’ programmes.
